The best selling songs of 2012

The good news just keeps on rolling in for Adele who's topped the list of the most albums sold in 2012.

Her album 21, which was released in 2011, has had the most album sales for the second year in a row, shifting 8.3 million copies last year.

Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe was the best selling single with 12.5 million people around the world buying it.

Overall, 10.9 billion pounds was spent on music in 2012.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry released the figures in their yearly Digital Music Report.

Wonky the rescue dog gets help to straighten her legs

This adorable puppy - nicknamed Wonky - has a rare condition that makes it difficult for her to walk.

The ten week old pooch was handed in to a dog charity after being abandoned.

Carers at the Leeds Dogs Trust are trying to help Wonky walk by giving her treatment to straighten her legs.

How easy is it for disabled children to play sport?

He grew up with cerebral palsy - a condition which affects around one in every 400 children in the UK and means that their brains have trouble communicating with their muscles.

For Martin it meant taking part in sport at primary school wasn't always easy for him.

But when he moved to a high school for children with disabilities, everything changed and he was able to join in with the other children.
 

Hot air balloon crashes in Egypt, killing 19 people

A hot air balloon carrying tourists has crashed in Egypt.

Officials say 19 people have died, including three British people, after the balloon they were in crashed into fields near the Egyptian city of Luxor.

Reports suggest the pilot and two other British passengers survived; but others from France, Hong Kong and Japan are thought to have died.

Luxor lies on the banks of the River Nile and is home to some of Egypt's most famous ruins.

The shoe that's also a phone

Ever had a problem trying to find your phone? Well, perhaps you need a mobile built into the bottom of your shoe!

The 'shoe phone' can call, text and even vibrate to let you know someone's ringing you!

A design company has made them for an experiment in recycling and creating technology you can wear.

The 'shoe phone' joins a long list of other wearable technology including Google glasses and bracelets that track your fitness regime.

Should junk food adverts be banned?

Doctors are calling for a ban on junk food adverts before 9pm in a new plan to tackle obesity.

The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges, which represents nearly every doctor in the UK, says the UK has an obesity crisis with a quarter of adults classed as obese and one in three kids leaving primary school overweight.

They also want a limit of the number of fast food outlets near schools and to raise taxes on sugary drinks by up 20 percent.

Living with Cancer

Last year Dominique Moore was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma during the filming of Hotel Trubble and, after nine months of chemotherapy, she has been told she is free of the disease.

One in three people will develop cancer at some stage in their lifetime and around 1,700 children are diagnosed each year in the UK. Many more will be affected by a parent or relative living with the disease.

What does it feel like to be treated for cancer? How does it feel to lose a parent? Is being given the all-clear the end, or the beginning, of the story? This documentary hears from children who can answer those questions.

Disabled sea turtle Yu gets prosthetic flippers

A disabled sea turtle has been fitted with a pair of artificial flippers to help her swim.

It's thought Yu, a 25-year-old female loggerhead turtle, lost her limbs in a shark attack.

She was pulled out of a fisherman's net nearly five years ago and sent to the Suma Aqualife Park in Kobe, Japan.

Since then, staff there have been making a pair of prosthetic flippers for her.

Reptiles face risk of extinction

Almost one in five of the world's reptile species are at risk of extinction, according to scientists.

1,500 reptiles including turtles, snakes and crocodiles were studied and researchers estimate that 19% of them are struggling to survive.

12% of reptile species were considered to have a high risk of extinction and 41% were considered endangered.

Scientists say that reptiles are at threat because their homes are being destroyed from farming.

The study also warned that half of all freshwater turtles are also at risk of dying out.

The Zoological Society of London led the research and it's the first time the world's reptile species have been assessed in this much detail.

There are an estimated 9,500 different reptile species in the world and its thought they first appeared on Earth around 300 million years ago.

Killer whale calf birth caught on camera

The birth of a killer whale calf has been caught on camera at San Diego SeaWorld.

Visitors surrounded the tank as the birth took place and tourists had their cameras ready to catch the moment.

The killer whales mother, Kasatka gave birth to a 300lb calf after an hour of labour.

The new calf marks the sixth successful killer whale birth at the park.

Thousands gather to see Pope before he steps down

Thousands of people gathered in Saint Peter's Square in Vatican City to see him.

The Pope announced he was stepping down earlier this month after eight years in charge.

Pope Benedict will carry on living in the Vatican City after he steps down and plans to devote the rest of his life to study and prayer.

The Vatican say his successor could be chosen before Easter.

Mystery gold bars sent to tsunami victims

At least three people in a small Japanese town devastated by the 2011 tsunami have received mystery gold bars.

The gold bars are estimated to be worth at least £160,000 and people in the town want to use the gold to re-build their town.

The fishing port of Ishinomaki was devastated by the 2011 tsunami, and most of it has still not been rebuilt.

Chelsea beat Brentford 4-0 in FA Cup

Chelsea are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup after beating league One side Brentford 4-0.

It was a shaky first half for the Blues but Juan Mata broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second half.

Emboaba Oscar made it 2-0 with a fine finish from close range before Frank Lampard and John Terry put the game to bed.

New signing Demba Ba played with a broken nose and sporting what looked like a superhero mask.

David Cameron appears in new One Direction video

This year's Comic Relief single by One Direction features a special guest appearance by David Cameron.

His cameo's being kept under wraps for now but the single goes on sale tomorrow.

It's a medley of two old songs - Blondie's 'One Way or Another' and 'Teenage Kicks' by The Undertones.

The Government's announced any VAT - the tax you pay when you buy things - raised from its sale will go to Comic Relief.
